Beware of scams!

You may have heard about being aware of fake HMRC websites and emails supposedly from them – in fact you’ve probably had more than one email, we certainly have!
If this is news to you, we wouldn’t want you to be caught out.

A little while ago Roger Eddowes from Essendon Accounts wrote an article about these, it’s definitely worth a read – click here.

HMRC has made progress with a big crackdown on these phishing scams recently but unfortunately this has led to fraudsters turning to landline calls. A recent BBC article highlighted the extent of the increase in landline scam calls in a short period of time.

As ever we encourage you to be cautious when receiving any email or phone call claiming to be from HMRC, your bank etc and always report these. HMRC’s guidance for reporting can be found here.
