Helping clients with their finances – our 4 step strategy for successful financial planning

Every financial planner has a different way of working. We are no different. But by putting our clients at the heart of everything that we do, we are able to match their current and future lifestyle goals with a clear and achievable financial plan.

Financial planning can incorporate many different services, including investment planning, retirement planning, inheritance planning or putting in place some vital protection. These may be requirements that overlap at the same time or occur at different stages in life. Rather than recommending specific products or funds, financial planning for us is more about looking at our clients’ overall requirements and ensuring they have a financial plan to meet those needs.

At Jane Smith Financial Planning, we take clients through 4 key stages:

  1. We take the time to really get to know our clients. Not just their financial and lifestyle goals but their hopes, fears and aspirations for themselves and their families too.
  2. We provide clients with a Life Roadmap Service and Report. This is a detailed evaluation of their current financial circumstances, but it also includes what really matters to them and how they’d like their life to look five, ten and more years from now. This gives clients a clear idea of the direction they need to go in and the actions they need to take to achieve their goals.
  3. We then put our recommendations into practice, implementing the most suitable products available and liaising with other professionals as required. As we are completely independent, we are not tied to any product range, so our clients always have the best products to suit their needs.
  4. We believe that the key to successful financial planning is regular review, so we make sure that our clients’ plan keeps up with changes in their lives as well as changes in the financial, economic, legislative and regulatory environment.

It’s never too late to start practical financial planning

Many of our clients are well established professionals who come to us at a point in life when priorities are starting to change; children may be approaching further education or have already flown the nest and thoughts of exploring new options, including retirement, are beginning to sound attractive.

Our short case studies, which address some common questions and demonstrate how we work with our clients to help them achieve their financial objectives, are worth a read and may help you decide if you would like to work with us to ensure the success of your clients’ financial future.
